Ignite Me – Tahereh Mafi

I don’t think I’ll ever get over this book. I’m obsessed. I feel like a lot of people say that this series starts out with the best book and as it continues it gets a bit more confusing, but, in my opinion, this has been the best book of the series so far. I feel like it’s so genuinely interesting and brings in the tension and romance that I’ve been needing from Aaron and Juliette since book 1, Shatter Me. So, without further ado, check out my review of Ignite Me!

The Story

This is Juliettes chance to rebuild her life, and she is not going to take it for granted. Juliette was shot by the Supreme Commander, and was taken to Warners base in Sector 45. When she learns of the news of Omega Point, Juliette knows that this is her opportunity to lead the rebellion to victory. It needs to be her, someone who has nothing left to lose and everything to give to the fight.

As Juliette takes on the next step of her fight, she grows stronger, learns more about her power and figures out what it is to be a leader.

Can she fight alongside Warner to kill the Supreme commander and take over Sector 45?

The Characters

I’m so obsessed with Juliette. Our little girl has grown into such a powerful woman. Her power has definitely grown, I mean she’s basically the strongest and most invincible character out there, but she’s also way more mature and has realized her worth. She’s realized what she deserves in life and what she wants and I love that she’s fighting with every ounce of her for what she desires.

Adam, I have pure hatred for this guy. Honestly. I went from loving and adoring Adam to completely despising him and everything he stands for. Half of his dialogue in this book was him screaming at Juliette for wanting to fight for what she believes in. Like move on dude, she doesn’t wanna be with you anymore. GET A GRIP.

“It’s not charity,” I snap. “He cares about me–and I care about him!”

Warner nods, unimpressed. “You should get a dog, love. I hear they share much the same qualities.”

On the other hand, I’m in love with Kenji. Every single quote I have highlighted is just Kenji making me giggle or making me squirm. I love him, he’s the absolute best sarcastic side character. He CARRIES these books.

Warner. Where do I even start? I’m in love? I’m obsessed? That’s the least I can say. From the beginning of this book, revelations about Warner and who he really is and what he really stands for have had me changing my mind completely about him. I mean let’s be honest, I’ve been hooked on him since he said “please don’t shoot me for this” and made out with our girl Juliette, but now I’m even more hooked. Aaron Warner Anderson is the love of my life and my husband now, yep, sorry guys, he’s mine, he’s taken, married.

The Setting

The majority of this book took place back in headquarters of Sector 45, Warners base. It was nice seeing a familiar setting, but there was so much more. We spent most of the time in Warners room, Warners study and his private training facilities and when I say that I’m obsessed?

Also, can we mention his wardrobe??? AARON WARNER ANDERSON HAS A SOFT SPOT FOR FASHION!!!!!!!

“Aaron Warner Anderson, chief commander and regent of Sector 45, son of the supreme commander of The Reestablishment.

He has a soft spot for fashion.”

The writing style

I loved every second. The short chapters, the writing style, all of it, I was hooked. I read this book in literally two sittings it was so easy to get into and so easy to lose track of time.

“Ignite, my love. Ignite.”

Do I recommend?

I can’t tell you how much I recommend this book. This entire series has been such a journey so far? I feel like this is the A Court of Mist and Fury of the Shatter Me series, if you get my meaning. It feels like this is where things really begin. The war is starting, shits about to get real.

Rating: 5/5⭐️

(I’d give it a million if I could)
