Twisted Games – Ana Huang

Okay I didn’t think I would get this obsessed with a series but Ana Huang is reallyyyy pulling through right now! After binging Twisted Love a little while ago, I did wonder if this would be one of those moments where the first book was great and the next ones go downhill, but twisted games gave me everything. Like reading the off-campus series, the twisted series seems to be getting better and better with every book.

The story

I’ve never read a princess x bodyguard romance before but the tension??? Oh my god I think this might be one of my new favorite tropes. The hidden romance, the forbidden aspects of it all, the secrecy? It’s so tension filled and sooo juicy! Adding on top of that a super hot bodyguard that is broody for everyone except his sunshine girl? Sign me up.

“Careful, Mr Larsen, or I’ll think you actually like me.”
His mouth curled into a grin. “Baby, we’re way beyond like.”

– Ana Huang, Twisted Games

The book had me genuinely grasping for more every single chapter. I couldn’t put it down. Not only did we see the relationship between Bridget and Rhys develop but the mystery surrounding Rhys’s parentage and history along with Bridget’s parents history was so climactic.

The characters

I wasn’t sure if I’d like Bridget when she was first introduced. While I saw glimpses of her from Ava’s perspective in Twisted Love, I wasn’t sure if she was going to be a prissy and posh type of princess or a let it all go type of princess. I can happily say that Bridget was the perfect mix of both and used her power for things that genuinely mattered. Growing into the role of Crown Princess wasn’t easy, but I loved seeing her journey and seeing her mature into the role. It suits her so much and I loved seeing her go through all of the hoops she had to jump through to get to where she’s finally happy in a position that she has control over.

Rhys on the other hand, I knew I’d love him right away. I’m a sucker for a talk, dark, and handsome man, especially if he’s a bodyguard! There were so many times throughout the book that I genuinely found myself swooning over Rhys. The clear trauma that he has from experiences in his past only made me want to hug him closer and make sure he understood that he’s not alone in the world. He was such a steady constant throughout the book and I loved seeing him realize that his feelings are acceptable and he should be deserving of all of them.

Rhys and Bridget together are probably one of my favorite power couples. It’s truly them against the world and I love that.

“You and me against the world, princess.”

The writing

Every chapter of this book was super easy to read. I didn’t feel dragged down by the writing which is super refreshing. It’s such a nice way to write a romance where I can genuinely feel myself in the shoes of both characters. Ana Huang writes such in-depth stories and feelings, giving her readers such a relatable emotion, making it easy to find themselves within the pages of the book.

Do I recommend?

If you’re looking for a steamy, tension filled and exciting romance, Twisted Games will give you all of that and more. I definitely recommend and I can’t wait to continue with the series!!
