I’m kind of shook at how fast and easy this book was to get through. After months of a reading slump, I’ve been searching for anything to save me, and when I came across an advertisement for Kidnapped By My Mate on Galatea, I immediately ran to the app store. Not only was this book incredibly addicting, but the fast paced nature had me easily slipping through 61 chapters of pure tension, werewolf drama and a mating bond that had me begging for more.
The story
As someone who isn’t super into supernatural romances, this book was surprisingly easy to read. The first half of the book focused on the main female character, Belle, who has newly discovered the mythical world and is coming to understand a mating bond that she has found herself in with the alpha wolf of the biggest pack in America. Not only is this a super interesting, and tension filled half of the book, but the back and forth between wanting to learn more about the werewolf world and wanting to be independent caused me to love this book even more. I found myself enjoying the inner turmoil of Belle as she discovered the effects of the mating bond and how possessive a male werewolf mate can be.
The second half of the book had me literally screaming at the characters. Without giving too much away, the miscommunication and the lack of understanding between characters was killing me. I wanted Belle to see through Grayson’s eyes and vice versa. I needed someone to realize what was going on. They both deserved so much better.
The characters
There were times throughout the book when Belle genuinely frustrated me. I can understand her need to stay in a relationship, even if it isn’t the best option, but after a while it can be annoying if she’s ignoring all of the red flags. I 100% see her issues with leaving, however, after a while it got to the point of me yelling at the book for her to take a look at herself and do what she needs to do to get herself out. Other than those moments of frustration, Belle was pretty relatable for a human undergoing a lot of changes in her life. Not only has she been on her own for a while, but she’s independent and surviving on her own. It’s clear that her independence is something she values, yet you can see the effects of the mating bond immediately as she melts into Grayson.
Grayson was such a softie despite his possessiveness over Belle. I was screaming at him throughout the few chapters of me not understanding his issues but once I understood I couldn’t help but feel so sorry for him. While he’s so powerful and the strongest in the world, he was such a softie for Belle and ensured her happiness and comfort at all times. He was being the perfect gentleman while keeping the tension very high.
I think Elijah and Kyle were probably two of my favorite side characters. Both characters are incredibly loyal to their Alpha and to their Luna and I adore them for it. Their relationship is also extremely adorable and I couldn’t help but swoon when I read the few scenes of them together.
Overall thoughts
For a book that I started this morning at around 7am (it’s now 8pm), I can’t believe how amazing it was. With 61 chapters full of tension, romance, and mythical drama/politics, I’m obsessed with this story and the writing style. I also can’t believe the cliffhanger we were left on and am already in the process of downloading book 2 to binge-read over the next few hours.
To say I’m obsessed is a severe understatement and I can’t wait for more!
