Hiii friends! Long time, no see… again. Yes, yes, I know, I keep going MIA here, but in my defense, it’s been a crazy few months. Let me give you some life (& reading updates) so we can catch up to my newest reviews!
My author services business – Mystic Books Marketing (+ Silver Editing & Co.)
Last I posted, I was proofreading Sun Blessed by the lovely and incredibly talented, Daisy Florence. Sun Blessed came along right at the beginning of my journey of becoming an author service provider. As a lifelong reader and new graduate (oh yeah, I graduated!), I figured it would be a great way to continue enjoying my love of reading while also making a little money and connecting in a professional way with authors! I’ve always wanted to support authors, especially indie authors as they go about their writing journey, and this opportunity just came along at the right time! Sun Blessed was the first experience I had of truly proofreading a book and connecting with the author who wrote it. Now, I’m hooked on the series, and Daisy and I are working on book 2 soon!
I’ve also been super lucky in finding a business partner through my friend, Brianna, who founded Silver Editing & Co. Bri and I have joined forces and created the author services dream team and we’re working closely on some work for a variety of different authors, each of us taking on different tasks and bouncing ideas off each other!
My trip to England & Italy
As a bit of a graduation present to myself, I decided to visit my family in England for two weeks, with a weekend in Italy with my friend in between! Italy has been my dream destination for as long as I can remember, and having the chance to finally experience the culture, food, and beautiful history of Florence, I can easily say that I can’t wait to go back. It was everything I wanted and more.
During my trip back home to England, I spent a day in London visiting the Sherlock Holmes Museum which was incredible. It was so detailed and beautifully well-done. I also visited MinaLima, a store owned by some of the most creative individuals I’ve ever seen. The owners worked on some of the props from the Harry Potter films and they created the illustrated editions of the Harry Potter series that I’m absolutely obsessed with.
What have I been reading recently?
Since reading Sun Blessed, I’ve also proofread Breaking Broken, a dark romance by Holly Guy. This story delves into darker themes but it has a really interesting premise and I’m definitely curious to see how Holly forms the next books relating to these characters!
During the wait for my plane, I read Coffee With The Handyman which was a super cute romance that was short and sweet! Kendall Sharpe managed to weave together a story that made me love the characters within a very short amount of pages.
I also recently read The Romance Rebuttal by Cass Rougeau which is a YA romance where the two main characters are seniors in high school and partners for their school debate team (which is quite competitive!). This was a super cute read and I was lucky enough to do a content pull for Cass so I was finding all of the tiniest moments that were absolutely adorable between the main characters.
And finally, I proofread Muse by Isla Starling. You guys… I haven’t been able to get this book out of my head. Muse features a professor x student relationship and the two characters are both unbelievably obsessed with each other. It had me crying, laughing, and falling completely and utterly in love with both of the characters and their stories.
I guess I’m back?!
So that’s what I’ve been up to, but what’s new with you guys?! Leave me a comment below about what you’ve been reading recently! Keep an eye out for some author interviews, book reviews, and more, coming soon!
