*cue Taylor Swift* It’s been a long time coming. This series has been on my list for as long as I can remember. Since I was little, my dad’s top series have been Dune (which I was working my way through last year), The Lord of the Rings (which has and always will be one of my comfort worlds to escape to), and… The Wheel of Time. Yep, you heard it here first, folks – it’s time for me to enter my Wheel of Time era.

Since The Wheel of Time first started airing on Prime Video, I’ve been obsessed with the series and the intricate world it surrounds. My dad (luckily) was able to answer my endless questions about the lore surrounding the Dragon Reborn, the Forsaken, and the world of Wheel of Time. If you haven’t seen the show already – you have to! I thought the first two seasons were good but the third season that’s currently releasing? I can’t get enough. The story surrounds Moiraine, an Aes Sedai who can channel using the One Power, as she sets out on her search for the Dragon Reborn, a reincarnation of a powerful individual who is prophesied to either save or destroy the world. She believes that the Dragon Reborn is one of five young villagers from the Two Rivers. As the story continues we figure out that each of the five has a part to play in the prophecy and they’re all changing how the Last Battle could turn out with their actions. We see the characters travel from villages to cursed cities to desert wastelands, all while escaping the powerful beings of “The Forsaken”, individuals that are sworn to the Dark.

If you’re someone who’s into high fantasy with complex world-building, the Wheel of Time will keep you on your toes. With fourteen books, it’s a story that takes you on a long journey as the five villagers set out across the world to discover what their role is in the pattern and how they’re impacting the Last Battle.
The fourteen books are definitely intimidating with 800+ pages per book, but I’m determined to experience the depth of this story! I’ve been loving the show so much and each of the characters’ storylines have so much detail and complexity to discover.
See you in May when I’m starting The Eye of the World!
