First of all, I want to start off with a huge thank you to Sandy Steele for providing me with a copy of her book in exchange with an honest review, so, without further ado, let’s get into it.
I was so excited to be able to get back into the world of Project Chimera and the supernaturals. It was so good to see Clark again and his journey to defeat some supernatural powers that are being taken advantage of, is so amazing and captivating to read about.
Plot
Clark Hudson, Nexus’ supernatural truth manipulator is sent on a mission with his first human partner. Lacey Roberts immediately catches his eye as the beautiful blonde spy that is on his team, however, Clark is a little disappointed in Lacey’s lack of girliness.
The two come face to face with a supernatural evil that is haunting an abandoned home in a small town and Clark discovers that the “bear” that they are hunting has a vendetta against a certain target.
Can Clark get to the bear before he takes his revenge?
Characters
If you’ve read my review of the Project Chimera series, then you’ll know that Clark wasn’t my favorite character. I felt like I couldn’t really get to know him well. He seemed like just a party boy that wasn’t really in it for the action, however, as his story continued, I found myself captivated with everything that Clark is. His story is horribly traumatic and is something that I’m surprised he has been able to cope with. He isn’t just a child acting out, no, he’s really trying to do his best at the job. He’s more than I expected and I love that I was so caught off guard with him and his character.
Lacey is a character that I’ve met before too. She was in the Lion’s Head series, and was River’s first human partner in the Lion and the Red Glove. It was so nice to see Lacey again and I love how she isn’t the typical blonde girl. She’s so unexpected and even caught Clark off guard.
Writing
Steele, once again, blew me away with her writing. I was immediately captivated and I loved all of the references to River and his series. Along with that, I was super surprised to see Clark mention Ms. Sasaki from The Den series, also by S.H. Steele!
In Conclusion…
I can’t wait to see where Clark takes his story. I’m definitely hoping for a lot from this series, especially after River’s Lion’s Head series, so here we go Clark!
