This book was kind of amazing. I didn’t really know what to expect going into it, especially since this isn’t the typical Steele genre I’ve read before, but I was sucked into a magical world of walkers vs. runners and once-in-a-lifetime love.
Plot
Alyssa and Marco have a once in a lifetime love, but they’ve never met in person. Marco is the man of her dreams – literally. He’s part of a mythical race named “Dreamers”, and his job as a dream walker is to guide mortals to their peaceful dreams. Alyssa is one of Marco’s charges.
While there are walkers, made to guide mortals to their peaceful dreams, there are also runners who push mortals to their nightmares.
When Alyssa comes face to face with the runner assigned to push her towards her nightmares, will Marco be able to save her and their love?
Characters
Alyssa was a great character. She was easy to follow and I could understand her perfectly. Her viewpoint on Marco and her dreams was so creative and I loved seeing her infatuated with literally the man of her dreams. He kind of haunts her every thought and that’s exactly what I want from a love story. Her mind is centered around Marco and meeting Marco and being with Marco.
Marco was also a great character. He seems to genuinely love Alyssa which I enjoyed seeing and he was also friendly with his family which is always nice. He gave up a lot to be with Alyssa, so I am wondering if he’ll regret anything in the next book, however, I doubt that he will because his love for her is clear and it’s the path that he wants to take.
Fiona was a nice character. There were a few scenes with her and she shined through as the best friend character and she stuck by Alyssa even when she believed that Marco was a hallucination or part of her imagination. I think that it’s important that as a best friend she really tried to take care of Alyssa, even bringing her out on a date and trying to get her over Marco.
Setting
Alyssa’s point of view takes place in a small village and it seemed pretty average, while Marco’s point of view is on top of a mountain close to the village?
Marco’s point of view of the setting was definitely more magic-filled, however, I think that the two settings fit perfectly for the type of story.
Writing
Steele’s writing was great for this story. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect, especially since I’d only read Steele’s more action-packed stories, but this fantasy filled romance was so exciting and I loved reading it.
In Conclusion…
A fun and exciting read full of romance and dreamwalking! I can’t wait to see where this series takes me!
