Dreamers Fortune – S.H. Steele

This was such a cool addition to the dreamers saga so far. I was reeled back into the world of walkers vs. runners and Alyssa and Marco’s love story.

Plot

Starting the book, we followed Tytan on his journey that fateful night when he caught Alyssa and Marco together in her head. He makes his way back to the runners village on the mountain, running towards Anthos to tell him what he has found. Marco has broken the forbidden law, the one law that states dreamers cannot fall in love with mortals.

Following Tytans declaration of Marco’s love for Alyssa, Marco is banished and his sister Katia is devastated, however, she finds a reprieve in Tytan and is attracted to the runner while she’s a walker.

Marco has made it to Alyssa and the two are happy, but Alyssa feels like Marco is holding back. Some secrets Marco is oath-bound to keep, and Alyssa needs the entire truth of Marco and where he came from.

Characters

Starting with Tytan, he was actually a really cool character. It’s not often that we get to see the “villain’s” point of view, but it was a much needed insight into his character. He isn’t half as bad as I believed him to be, looking at him from Marco’s point of view. He’s literally just doing his job which he doesn’t even enjoy.

Katia was one of my favorite characters. Her colour changing hair is so cool and I love that each of her emotions are a different colour. She’s also a pretty great sister and family member and I think she’s such a well-rounded character that fits so well with the story.

Alyssa was nice in the book too. Being with Marco is definitely good for her and I like seeing them together, I also understand where she’s coming from in needing to know Marco’s past especially when he’s so mysterious.

Marco was also a great character who definitely had a lot of internal conflict throughout the book. He wants so badly to tell Alyssa everything about himself but his fear of his mentor and his fear of losing her holds him back.

Setting

Seeing the mountain is magical. The setting is full of dreamers which is so cool and the race is so well thought out. I feel like it’s such a mysterious place, especially after the prologue of this book where we see the origins of the dreamers.

The village is pretty much the same. Augusto is a typical small village and what you’d expect.

Writing

Steele’s writing was exciting and kept me intrigued. I read the book in one go and I loved the cliffhanger at the end.

In Conclusion…

I can’t wait to read the next book and follow Alyssa and Marco once more!
